Bored in Texas

Okay, My sister didn't have a job when I bought this plane ticket and decided to fly out and spend a week with her and her new baby.

Oh, but that changed a few days after I bought the non-refundable ticket. She's at work right now, as she will be for four of the seven days I will be here. Now I'm stuck in her hot house, with her chunky monkey baby and my mother, who thankfully is dealing with all the baby duties.

My dad sent two dvds with my mom for me. One of them is called Baraka. I'll just tell you what is says about it on the back cover:

Baraka, an ancient Sufi word with forms in many languages, translates as a blessing, or as the breath or essence of life from which the evolutionary process unfolds. A transcendently poetic tour of the globe, Baraka was shot in breathtaking 70mm in 24 countries on six coutinents.

Set to the life affirming rhythms of varied religious rituals and nature's own raw beat, Baruka is a visualization of the interconnectedness humans share with the earth. Spanning such diverse locales as China, Brazil, Kuwait and major U.S. and European sites, among others, Baruka captures not only the harmony, but also the calamity that humans and nature have visited upon the earth....

I'll tell ya about the other dvd later....

For shopping, you can go down Richmond for a lot of bargain stores. Lots of restraunts down Richmond too. If ya wanna go see a movie, the is a movie theatre on Dunvale which intersects with Richmond. There's also a few museums here: Musuem of Fine Arts and Museum of Natural Science. Natural Science has a lot of neat exhibits, like Imaxes and the Cockrell Butterfly Center. Not too expensive. The Menille(sp?) Museum is free; it's a display of Dominique Menille's personal art collection. If you want attractions that are more specific to your liking, just respond.
As for Churches, We have St. Sava which is Serbian. St. Michael the Archangel is OCA. Annunciation is a Greek Cathedral and there's 3 Antiochian Churches: St. George, St. Joseph, and Forty Holy Martyrs. I attend St. George...so go there and meet me! For directions/addresses, IM me or email me and I will give them to you

Ok Bean, you have forced me to create a user name and begin this process of Live Journaling. You crack me up, I know deep down inside you are enjoying your time in Texas. I wish I could be there with you to make it even more FUN!

Now I know you are being some what sarcastic with you posting but really...you know Mom and Dad love you very very BERRY much. They did the best they could for you as you were growing up. I know my children will have similar comments to my parenting skills and Brian's as they become adult's and post their views in various journals, letters, god forbid the Oprah show or something worse.

Yes we are all about BASEBALL at our house, it has consumed our lives and I really do try to make sure that Curtis is the one with the most passion about the sport. So far I believe he is, but Brian is right up there with him.

Just this morning Rachel and Curtis were fighting and I had flashes of horrible scenes in my mind...Rachel chasing Curtis with a butcher knife in our backyard while I am at work...one minute they love each other and the next they want to kill each other. On occasion they will pit me in a duel for "who does Mom love best". For example, Tuesday morning I woke Curtis up with the usual "rise and shine and give God your glory, glory" song (wonder where I got that) and Rachel yells out from her room, "Mom, you never wake me up first...you love Curtis more...stay away from me" Well to my defense I wake her up first many mornings and how do you argue this with a 10 year old.

Now Curtis this morning gets mad because KC (our dog) is laying on my bed, Rachel is in my bathroom, Curtis is walking up to the bed to lay with KC, Rachel runs from the bathroom to the bed to beat Curtis so she can lay with KC. Curtis gets mad...I tell him to chill out, he can hug KC when Rachel is done, Curtis says, "You always take her side, she knew I wanted to lay with KC, you never see the mean things Rachel does to me, you always blame me, Rachel is soooo good and I am the bad one" I am once again defending my parenting abilities but this time to a 12 year old.

Have I given you enough boring details...so my point is SUCK it up and have a good time, enjoy time with Mom and Bobby, this is precious time AND remember I am the perfect one in the family, so kiss my big toe.

Love you very much, Happy Belated Birthday, did you like our card and gift???

Are you on line right now? How did you get your post to my email?
May. 27th, 2004 11:31 am (UTC)
Um, when you set up your L J account there's a setting that's auto selected for you to be notified by email every time someone posts a comment to your journal or when someone posts a comment to your comments. If you don't want to be notified by email when this happens, you can go back and edit your user settings.
